I just spent the weekend looking at approximately 90 Whooping Cranes as they migrate through Saskatchewan, and felt inspired to create something cute. The Whooping Crane is a rare success (?) story, where there were fewer than 20 birds left in the wild in the 1930's, and current estimates place this migrating population around 600 today. As the tallest bird in North America, they are hard to miss when they're hanging out in farmers fields in the prairies.
